| In the historical town centre of the old once prosporous (today more sleepy) Saracene town Naso you find the romantic little villa with a large covered terrace and an enchanted garden.
Naso is situated above Capo d’Orlando 450metres in height and opposite of the Eolian Islands. From the nothern city walls there is a fantastic view onto the sea and the islands. In the south-east you find the beautiful panorama of the mountains crowned by Mount Etna, snow covered even in March. Through the mountains the road winds itself up to a height of more than 1000 metres to lead you down (touching the natural reserve of Mount Etna) into the valley of the Alcantara and the plain of Catania. Taormina nearby. One can meet unique landscapes, walking possibilities and characteristic food places, where they produce their own meat, sausages and cheese.4
The airports of Catania and Palermo (both about160 miles) let you get to Naso from foreign parts.
To have a bath people from Naso go to the long and sandy beaches of Brolo and Capo d’Orlando, 7.5 miles away. They all have a good infrastructure in summer time. There is a charming hairpin bended road with marvellous views leading down from Naso to get there.
A very special beach is the still natural one of Naso itself. Situated at Ponte Naso it takes you 15 to 20 minutes to get there. A nice and sandy beach without any infrastructure, easily to step into the blue and clean waters. A beach for those who love pure nature in front ofthe gorgeous scenery of the eolian islands and spectacular sun sets. Just some improvised showers and even in high summerjust a very moderate number of people. In low season it's a nearly lonely beach. We can just hope that this paradise will last .
Nice trips are into the Madonie, to Santo Stafano di Camastra (ceramics) , Cefalù and the Eolian Islands. Very interesting to go to Castel di Tusa, a small fishermen's village. There you find the art hotel of Antonio Presti and the so called 'Fiumara d'Arte'. Very recommandable – specially for fish dishes – is the restaurant 'Grotta Marina'.
Other trips lead you into the mountains of the Nebrodi. Nice walks are for example to Cascata di Catafurco, Lago Biviere, Lago Cartolaio and Rocca di San Marco. If you go on passing Randazzo you can visit the well known places of Alcantara, Taormina and even Catania.
And in the evening back into the quiet and freshness of Naso (enjoying perhaps the best pizza of Sicily at Eugenio’s and Melania’s 'Osteria delle Palme')
Casa Scirocco Naso is a villetta to fall in love with. Originally it wasn’t planned as a holiday house. So it is restaured and equipped to superior standards. (first moving in again in 2009)
There are all conveniences, for example central gas heating, dish washer, washing machine, hoover, iron, ironing board, hair dryer etc.
Sleeps up to five. Upstairs there are 2 bed rooms each with its own bathroom. The tiles are handpainted. All the rooms are done up very nicely and typically in the Sicilian style.
There are quite a lot of antiques and handmade things in the house.
Downstairs you get from the garden crossing the terrace into the cosy kitchen where you find the large handmade table as well. The equipment is of very high standards – the owner is an enthusiastic cook. So if you like cooking you will be content. Next to the kitchen there is the comfortable living room with sofas, ceramic stove, satellite TV, hi-fi.
You will surely feel well if you don’t want a typical holiday house but a special villetta in a historical Sicilian town high above the sea, which has maintained its original identity living no mass tourism.
There is always a contact in the village.
